What is the Mindful Reading Center Approach to reading instruction?

We have developed a unique formula to provide individualized, prescriptive and diagnostic one-on-one instruction for our students. This is with the purpose of optimizing lessons to assist students in meeting their learning challenges. Our highly trained and dedicated teachers use yoga and mindfulness to help create a centered experience for our students.

Why Mindfulness?

Mindful Reading Center teaches students to use movement and meditation to help build resilience and tenacity while developing lifelong strategies to unlock literacy. Through mindfulness, we help our students manifest positive energy which assists the mind and body in achievement. Mindful practices help create positive pathways in the brain, thereby offering a counter argument to negative emotional mindsets.

What is Dyslexia?

According to the International Dyslexia Association, “Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.”

If my child has not been diagnosed, can they still benefit from your help?

Many children experience reading difficulties. These reading difficulties may not rise to the level of obtaining a diagnosis of dyslexia. However, direct, explicit, multisensory instruction has proven to be beneficial to all learners. At Mindful Reading Center, we welcome all students who may benefit from individualized, intensive reading instruction.
